What a far cry this is, from the amazingly good deals I saw there back in the mid-1990's! Some food items - eggs - for example, cost more than they do here in the US. But people's incomes are still far lower than they are for Americans, and I wonder how they manage to get by these days. All that oil wealth coming into Russia is only going into a few hands; little of that money appears to be trickling down into the ordinary Russian's pockets.
